Hi,

Has anyone just come back from Sharm? I am going on the 19th and it's my first trip there. I have been waiting for ages to go. Is there any "problems" out there regarding the impending war. And most important the water temp!

Lucky b***er. I was out there about three years ago and I've been threatening to go back ever since. Hope it goes well, let us know how you get on.

Sinai divers site is here.

I have a few friends going there on February 16th. I can post their first impressions when they arrive.

They arrived to Sharm on Saturday and made two dives on Sunday. The water is 23-24 C and there's nobody except them in the water. ;-0

am curious if the looming war in the region has anything to do with lack of divers.
i would love to dive the Red Sea.
anyone know of any special deals for the area?

a buddy is always talking about the great wreck diving in the region.

Hey,

I will be in Dahab (just up from Sharm) from the 9th - 16th, so I will post a report when I return. If you live in the US and you want to see the Red Sea then I suggest going to the UK first (its what I am doing since I live near DC at the moment) - US prices to Egypt seem to be a little steep (something of a trend for travel in the US IMHO). From the UK you should be able to pick up a week in Dahab or Sharm (including flights) for between 300 and 500 pounds, depending on the time of year and the level of luxury you desire. Diving is additional to that - I usually get a package that includes it, but it is entirely possible to go and figure it out when you get there (and you can always ask for operator recommendations on this board when you know where you are going).

I'm working out in Sharm at the moment. If coming from US and planning stopover in uk (or indeed coming from UK direct) for next lag then I do know that there is a deal on for the 9th Feb for £99 for flights and weeks accomodation. Bit of a con since they will charge £20 extra for breakfast buffet for hte week and £10 for transfers from/to airport to hotel (decent hotel, Ocean Club, EXCELLENT bar :) )

not sure how long the deal will go on for but will find out if anyone is interested.
