If you are a shark fan, I highly recommend South Africa as a diving destination!!

On a 10 day dive safari to South Africa's East Coast we saw 8 species of shark!

1 - Tiger sharks,
2 - Bull sharks,
3 - Whale shark,
4 - Ragged tooth sharks,
5 - Oceanic black tip,
6 - Hammerhead sharks,
7 - White tip reef shark
AND
8 - Dusky sharks

Unbelievable diving! :D

Woo hoo! Where'd you dive in SA? Was this on the sardine run or just "regular" diving?

Sounds like a major hoot!

It was just a "regular" dive safari if you can believe that! We were diving at Sodwana Bay and Aliwal Shoal - two of the best dive spots on South Africa's East Coast. This time of year is excellent for sharks and of course we had a bit of luck too.

They do scheduled Tiger shark dives and Bull shark dives so they are pretty much guaranteed. As are the duskys and oceanic black tips that join these dives. I have seen several whale sharks at both locations and the ragged tooth sharks are residents on Aliwal Shoal for half the year. The hammerheads were a great surprise but operators say they are not all that uncommon.

The Sardine Run is the ultimate divers dream of course and I hope to dive it in June! :)

Check out scubasafaris.co.za - Immerse Yourself Safaris for more information on diving in South Africa. They are excellent!
