Dear community,

Back in early October 2019, we went snorkeling on the Maldives. While exploring the edge of the house reef at the island of Malahini Kuda Bandos, I spotted several fish, and now, upon reviewing my GoPro footage, I noticed a shark passing by. Here’s the clip of the sighting.

Could you help me identify which shark species this might be? And could you also estimate its approximate length? Unfortunately, this special moment with such a majestic predator went by very quickly.

Update: Unfortunately, the video upload is not possible with all kinda formats (although the length is just 10 seconds). Therefore, pls find attached some screenshots out of this.

Thank you!

Very difficult to tell from these stills but my guess is a black tip reef shark.
