This is kind of old stuff but I wanted to share it anyways. This last August I went for a shark dive out of Point Judith. The weather was perfect! Flat seas, warm air, warm water....and best of all, the sharks actually showed! The operator of our particular boat is retiring apparently, but I know he isn't the only one doing shark dives out of Rhode Island. I highly recommend this kind of trip! Is there a better way to spend the day then to be swimming with sharks?

Details man, details! I'd like to know what's going on in RI for shark dives, since I've only done it in clear water.

MSilvia:
What boat did you use? Was it the Snapper?
Yes it was the Snapper. According to the Captain he is planning on taking next year off, maybe sell his boat. A shame really as he did a great job of getting us right on the spot and the sharks showed almost immediately. We probably saw about 8 or 9 different sharks, all Blues. We were hoping to see some Makos but they weren't cooperating on that day. The weather was perfect that day with dead flat seas and blue skies....couldn't ask for better.
You had a choice of hanging out in the cage which was suspended right at the surface and was about 9 feet deep, or laying on a raft made up of aluminum pipe and foam and watching the sharks from above.
I spent about 20 minutes in the cage but like everyone else I found it easier to be outside the cage for taking pictures. So for the rest of the day it was either snorkeling on the surface or just diving shallow at about 10 feet. The Captain kept a good chum slick going the whole day as well as feeding the sharks frozen Fish-On-A-Rope. So they were happy enough to eat and mostly ignore the divers! If you get a chance...this is a trip worth the money!
