super topside conditions in the upper keys early this morning; sunny skies, low humidity, light NE/E winds, seas <1FT(winds and seas picked up finishing our second dive). 1st drop: SPIEGEL GROVE: buoy SG4, dusty blue viz 50FT, light/mdt NE current, crazy temperature fluctuations(thermocline/water mixing) 78-84F @ 60-95FT, it was friggin cold on the wreck!!! outside of a school of blackfin tuna, nothing special. proceeded south to the BENWOOD in search of glass minnows/fish action. buoy BW3; average dusty green/blue viz 40FT, zero current, as experienced earlier on the SG, water mixing, temps between 79-84F @ 30-80FT(swam to the dropoff). the massive school of minnows observed on the bow 4 days ago reduced by @ least 60% but still dense and the predators were less abundant as expected. our timing was spot on as we had the wreck to ourselves. pics courtesy of timg,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
