Greetings fellow divers! I'm going to the Seychelles next week,Yeah!!!! My first time there. Does anyone have any tips on dive sites and "must see and do things"? Thanks..Joe

Which island(s)? How long? (I’m jealous.)

I recommend:
seafood.
outer islands.
wildlife preserves.
and try a Seybrew.

And oh yes, did I mention that I’m jealous?

I'm flying into Paris for a few days and then to Mahe for one week. I heard that there is a chance of seeing whale sharks!!! Any info on Mahe would be great. Thanks

Although Mahé is much the largest island, you can still see most of it in a day. It’s also by far the most populous, and therefore the most developed / least pristine. It’s mostly granite, like the tops of mountains, so some great scenery.

There’s some decent info here.

Of what’s mentioned, I’d skip the pirate treasure dig at Bel Ombre as simply silly and boring.

The worst dive I ever had there was great. Enjoy.

Thanks for the info. I checked out the web site and it was very helpful. Hope I get to see some whale sharks. I just bought a new undewater camera for the trip!

During six years in Seychelles, lots of dives, and several fishing trips, I never saw a whale shark. If you see one, I'm not sure I want to know.
Good luck.

The prospects don't look to good, but maybe I'll get lucky! (i.e. sighting a whale shark!!!!)

Main suggestion: watch out for killer jellyfish, I've heard from my friend the television that they get box jellies in those parts. Are you going from a liveaboard or are you staying land based? Anyway, have a safe trip and be sure to post a trip report (I haven't travelled much, so I'd really love to know what the Seychelles are like). By the way, nice parrot.

Thanks for the warning. I'll be land based so we probably will stay close to shore and I'm bringing my 3mm suit for added protection. I took the picture of the parrot at a famous dive shop in the Caribbean. Can anyone guess which one? Hint: you can also see the parrot in ads in scuba magazines.
