that's not a personal attack.

i didn't call you, for example, a "stupid, ill-informed, ignorant ***-hole"

that would have been a personal attack.

i simply said that you don't appear to believe women are smart enough to know the
difference between being sexually assaulted and being accidentally touched in an emergency.

so... please address my comment. is that the case?

It's a personal attack when you inform the board that you believe that I don't appear to believe women are smart enough. Essentially you are now calling me a chauvinist. You are attacking my creditability because I may have a different view than yours. I'm surprised you didn’t holler that I was a troll. That is what happens when someone dares to have an opinion.

I agree and I'd also like a link to the other board he's posting on. That would at least give us something from the other side.

Perhaps the person that sent that to me will send it to you as well?

Here it is

NOTE: I am providing this because it was asked for. I am NOT endorsing the views of this link! I simply googled for Lara Ocampo, found this board, and provided the link since many people are asking. Please no flames!

lol.. what happens is that people disagree with that opinion, some times, and
say so...

you can say what you think; just don't expect everyone to agree with you

pilot fish:
Just so this is clear, I did not start this topic, it was H2andy. Why
you chose to put my name on this thread is puzzling. It is also inaccurate.

holy crap, pilot fish! it's a conspiracy! :eyebrow:

it's because your post was the first one split from the other thread ;)

let me see if i can insert my own so that i am not puzzling you or being innacurate

Kennedy-

FWIW- I didn't read into your comments anything about stupidity or chauvinism.

Let me state first of all that I am not commenting on the incident which sparked this particular thread, but rather on perceptions in general.

As a female diver, and an instructor of 10 years experience, I have been on both sides of this dilemma. My ITC Course Director made inappropriate advances towards me- and went so far as to "drop trou" after class one night. I recognized this as inappropriate behavior- and it sucked and it made me feel liek I had done something to deserve it. HOWEVER- I also recognized early on, while working as a DM, that sometimes when we are teaching our bodies "get in the way" especially in rescue scenarios. When I teach I am always very upfront with my students (male and female) about this. I can, however, see where some actions could (easily) be misconstrued, especially in a situation where there is a language barrier. I'm certainly not saying that this was the case in the incident which sparked this thread, but I do think it is somethign we should all keep in mind. If I was reading Kennedy correctly, this was the point he was trying to make as well.

That's because you chose to split it there, and chose to split it in the first place. Would you kindly take my name off the thread as originator?
