I finished my OW dives this weekend and downloaded the data. Worked like a charm on my Mac G5, and the information was very nice to have. Using my Oceanic 250 to capture history would have cost $100 for their USB adapter plus over $200 for a copy of Virtual PC to run their software on. The Sensus Ultra is a solid deal for Mac users.

One thing to also think about is that you will never have to pay extra for a downloadable computer again unless you just want to. That will be a savings on every dive computer you ever buy.

One other little story: I lost mine a couple of weeks ago on the last dive of the day and didn't realize it was gone until packing my gear to go home. I returned the following week, a miracle occurred and I found it. Got home and decided to see if it would download or if if I needed to send it back in for a new battery. Downloaded perfectly. I now have a dive profile that shows 168 hours of bottom time!

I contacted Reefnet and Kris told me the battery should be good for like 3000 hours at standard (10 sec) sampling rate. I can lose it another 15 or 20 times. :)

It's a neat little device with simple, easy to use software.

So! If I have a Mac computer! Can I order a Sensus Ultra from you now or should I wait a little longer untill you have everything ironed out!

Sure, you can certainly order from us now...there is really nothing to "iron out". Our Mac software is quite stable and reliable, as are the drivers for our USB-Serial adapter (I can't say the same for some other USB adapters). ZzzKing seems to have everything running pretty smoothly on his Mac.

Ok, so I have finally started on my big project for my Ultra: theoretical inert gas loading.

I've worked out a nine compartment model in Excel using the Workman M-values and the Schreiner equation from deepocean.net.

I just started working on the interface with the Ultra. Once I get it working, I'll write the code for the tissue load modeling. Then I can "play back" my dives with a graphical representation of the tissue loading of all compartments in real-time and in a time-compressed mode for longer dives.

If possible, I would like to get a copy of that Excel spreadsheet, when you have it completed. I would like to download my Ultra logs to see how it goes. Thanks.

Kris,

Just wanted to post a quick endorsement for the Ultra and the great support I received.

While documentation was weak when I received my unit, a toll free call resolved all issues and I was up and running. The unit has operated without flaw and the data is easily accessed for display in the software I am developing.

Great product at a great price combined with great support make this one of my best purchases thus far.

Thanks, Kris

I wonder if we could submit a RFE? (heh).

I was looking at the output from a users recent dive (SeaYoda) and noticed there is no time/date stamp on the unit. I wonder how hard it would be to include a clock in it, or at least the ability to enter the date/time on the screen like you can your PSI. that way you could record the dives better. (maybe this is already a function of the software and is just not in part of the screen that I'm seeing).

The Sensus Ultra most definitely has a clock (a very accurate one). The screen-caps that SeaYoda posted don't show the left-hand side of the program window. That's where you get a list of all dives sorted first by recorder serial number (to manage multiple recorders), and then by date/time.

You can see what the full interface looks like on our website. The images there are of a slightly older version without Ultra support, but little has changed. Since the software is free (and includes some sample data), you could also download it and try the "real thing".

Cool! I see that on the link you provided. Might be neat to somehow transfer that date/time onto the main screen and a "dive name" (like Mollasses Reef 2nd dive) though.

I think I'll have to get me one of these new toys!

BTW all, for the USB to Serial interface convertor, I got one of those working on another serial item this past weekend. Works great. So I'm sure it will work fine with your product. (for those who had concerns about those convertors).
