I just got my new to me HP100s back last night with some 300 Bar Sherwood valves on them. One of the valves cracks open with the slightest touch, though, to the point it opened just driving home from the shop. (Tanks slid sideways a bit around a wide turn.) Is there any way to adjust this or am I just going to have to build a protective cover to keep the knob from being turned accidentally?

Cylinders should be secured in the vehicle, which would preclude the need for valve adjustments or protective covers.

Thanks for the help.

Any suggestions for adjusting it so it doesn't open while I'm moving it from my vehicle to a boat, or my house, or whatever?

I don't mind the amount of effort, I quite like that it's easy to turn. What I mind is that it's less than a 1/8th of a turn to open the valve a significant amount.

That's a good thing. It means the valve seat is still new and not dimpled.

It'll eventually wear in and form a groove in the seat, thus causing a little plug to form in the orifice, meaning it'll take more cranks to achieve full flow.

Thanks for the information.

Always grab the valve with the orifice pointing away from your hand. You don't want a high-pressure injection injury to your palm.

Get a Highland SS DIN Plug. If your tank slides around, and the valve opens, you won't lose any gas, but getting the plug out is a different story. To remove a pressurized plug you will need a wrench to remove it.

Golem gear reps a DIN plug with a pressure release button on it - pretty cool:D
