I'm now running a self-reliant diver programme in Auckland (NZ) on a monthly basis. This is a great course, focussing on dive planning, gas management, use of redundant equipment to manage diving emergencies and improving buoyancy control/situational awareness skills to an advanced level.

To enrol in the course, you need to be an AOW diver, though Rescue Diver is preferred. The course consists of a theory evening, a pool session to develop the basic skills and at least four open water dives (probably five). The course is well suited to photographers, underwater hunters and instructors/DMs who may well be left in a solo diving situation. The course would also be of use for divers wanting to get into technical diving in the near future. The course may be combined with Nitrox training.

The student-to-instructo ratio is limited to 2:1, so this a great chance for developing fundamental diving skills.

There is one space remaining on the July course (15th, 17th, 19/20th), and I'm in the process of confirming dates for August.

If you're interested in finding out more, drop me a PM.
