Greeting divers. I am Divedoodle and new to this site. I wasnt sure where to post this so chose here. I am a senior, widowed woman seeking new dive buddies to travel with. I live in Southern New Mexico, close to the Texas border. Been diving over 20 years, but have been land-locked, living in Colorado and New Mexico, so dives have mainly been while on trips. I am experienced with quite a few C-Cards (for whatever that's worth) but have less than 500 open water dives. Would love to find an experienced senior single male diver for a buddy, but an experienced senior (straight) female diver would be ok too. Anyone else out there seeking travel scuba buddies?

Hi Divedoodle, welcome aboard. If you're looking for local-ish dive buddies, you might want to check out the Texas forum. (thats as close as the local forums come to Las Cruces, but I now I've seen some NM threads in there once or twice.)

If you're looking to meet others from the board there are usually a couple excursions a year where members from the board go and dive, i.e. this year is the Belize Invasion on Turneffe Atoll.

I'm married but you would be welcome to join my wife and I. We go to the Blue Hole in Santa Rosa a couple times a year to keep our skills up and make at least one trip a year by car to the Sea of Cortez in Mexico. The Blue Hole is active year round with divers but especially in the summer. We have monthly meets there with divers from all over. Balmorhea springs is probably a fairly close drive for you in west Texas and the water is a relatively warm low 70s year round. If you are on Facebook look for NM Desert Divers and Friends of New Mexico Dive Center.

Hi Chris,
Thx for this information. I'm not really interested in any kind of local diving, but the trips like the Belize Invasion would interest me. I can't do a trip in June, as I have one planned for July, but hopefully in the future. How do I find out about them?

Hi Chris, thank you for that offer, but I'm not interested in diving the Blue Hole in Sanra Rosa. I've done plenty of training there and am more of an 80/80 diver. I've dived in the Sea of Cortez, off of LaPaz, and Puerto Penasco. Where do you drive to dive the Sea of Cortez?

I realize Blue Hole isn't everyone's cup of tea but it's what we have. And you can meet people there to do the kind of diving you want to do.

We have a house in San Carlos, near Guaymas, about half way down the mainland side of the gulf where we go diving.
