Hi Fellow Divers
Malpelo, Colombia, most divers wouldn’t have heard of this dive spot. It's an amazing place which is part of what’s called the Golden Triangle. So Malpelo, Cocos Islands and the Galapagos Islands make up this triangle, within which has four oceanic streams converging, coming up from the deep, which means that pelagic life is in abundance.
Malpelo Island is basically the tip of a long ridge which drops down some 3km, into the deep. For you, the diver, this means that you have pelagic fish visiting in large schools.
So, schools of Hammerheads come in, looking for food. Then the next site has schools of Silky sharks, then you can see Galapagos Sharks… so much to see.
Pelagic Dive Travels' charter departs from Buenaventura and goes out for 10 days and nine nights. This area is remote and due to the location, the diving is for the more experienced diver, as it has strong currents, so you need to be an Advanced certified Diver or higher with 50 logged dives (proof will need to be shown on booking).
What’s special about our charter?
Well the price firstly, and we have a Colombian National – Guillermo Forero accompanying you on board the vessel. He is a Dive Instructor with years of experience, can help with any concerns and will accompany you on every dive (local dive guides are used for every dive). We can also arrange for him to meet you at Cali airport, and arrange transfers down to Buenaventura. So if you have any concerns with language or travel, we can help you, so you have a worry free trip.
Malpelo is a destination which should be on every divers bucket list. Who wants to see sharks?
Our charter departs 2 December 2018, returning 10 December 2018. We have limited spots left.
