Here is something I found that looks like an easy solution to certain very specific threats.

It is not a strongbox, but for $3.75 I bought one- and it's pretty tough.

You can get them at American Science & Surplus : Eine Kleine Security which some of you chemistry/physics whizzes might remember as Edmund Scientific.

Probably ill advised for a car safe, as they're pretty obvious, and while diving you can always carry cash and drivers license- they're waterproof.

I generally advise people to hide their valuables if on a week-long trip, and nothing says "steal here for maximum benefit" like a lock box... but on a day-dive boat this should allay a lot of fears.

I put my wife's chocolate in one, she asked me to dole it out judciously. ;)

Looks pretty good but standard shipping is $ 5.95
I'm not even gonna try to get this sent overseas.
Just try to find something like it localy.

Just not interested in going through the rest of my life worrying about some sorry ass thief.........I don't even have a key to my house.

:D You must live in some fun place.
I do feel 100% safe in the place I live and work. But I do keep my stuff under lock and key.

I came up with a different solution. I gutted an old dive light that is big enough for a wallet sunglasses, keys and a phone. I just take it with me when I dive and feel uncomfortable about leaving stuff behind.

That divelight trick is a great idea. I may try to use that one, thanks.

i got larry a 'hitch safe' - it fits in your trailer hitch & has a combination lock. big enough for car key, cash, credit card, that kind of thing.

just an idea for shore diving where you drive to the site. or, indeed, for other occasions, but i got it for him for diving!
