An article about the first abalone diver death claims this man's name was Kevin Francis Frewen, 57, of Carmichael.

Second diver in a week dies off Mendocino coast
FORT BRAGG, - -- Authorities say a man died while diving in a cove at Russian Gulch State Park in Northern California. It is the second diving-related death in a week along the Mendocino coast.

The Press Democrat reports (http://bit.ly/1suz920 ) that the name of the 57-year-old man was not available Monday. Mendocino Fire Chief Ed O'Brien says he doesn't know where the man lived, but he was not a local resident.

O'Brien says the man went to the beach with a group of people but was alone in the water. He says the ocean was calm at that time.

Authorities say another diver found the man found floating face down. O'Brien says divers pulled him to shore and performed CPR until emergency personnel arrived, but the man could not be revived.

Sorry to hear/read this........DD, you need to get into the abalone business?..........:)......

Very unfortunate.

As a side note, I had no idea Cali has a Fort Bragg until I saw this. I was quite confused and thought the deceased must have been military visiting from NC. Alas I was uninformed.

always sorry to hear this sad news about divers deaths....condolences to family and friends....
