Tacoma, Washington last week, Clear Lake, Oregon this week. I promise that the excitement of the new cameral and housing will wear off soon and I won't post a few on the board EVERY time I dive...

As mentioned, these were taken in Clear Lake, Oregon. The water temp. was about 40F, the vis was around 80'. I also updated my profile pic with a self portrait I took on this dive. Try to contain your excitement!

cool pictures. 80ft in a lake? Is that common? I only have dove in the ocean but thought that lake diving is generally pretty murky.

Man...you can post boring old pics like these every day! I like the B&W of the first one...very dramatic. But it's the last one that's my favorite.

I got the idea to shoot some B&W shots from Linda Cline's Dancing Fish site. She certainly has some great shots to get ideas from.

By the way, what Oregon tends to lack in ocean diving (generally low vis and rough seas) it makes up in some decent lake diving. Both Clear Lake and Waldo Lake have beautiful, almost tropical looking water and vis. I say tropical looking because you forget about the tropical look the second you jump into the 40F water! I understand that Crater Lake also has outstanding vis, but it is a much longer drive from my location. Also, no cars are allowed at the edge of the lake, so you have to hike your gear a mile to get to the water. Of course that is uphill both ways! Even with the challenges (I forgot to mention that the elevation is over 6000') it is certainly is on my to do list.
