Last week while diving Islamorada there were two ladies on two different dives who were sick at their stomaches within 100 yards of the dock in water with no chop. This isn't just ladies folk, I've seen just as many men and boys pukeing their guts up too. When talking to them I always inquire if they had taken any motion sickness pills before diving and they invariably say that they haden't. Some of them say that they have gotten sick at other times and a few of them say that they get sick to some extent every time they go out in a boat. Seems to me that I'd be taking pills if that was my experiene. I don't know if I would get seasick or not. First time out I started taking pills just to be sure. I get the Equate brand of dimenhydrinate 50mg pills from Wally's. About four bucks for 100 tablets. I start taking them the day before diving. Either they work real good or I just don't get seasick. I'll never know because I plan on using them any time I go out in a boat. It must be really miserable to have this problem and I really feel sorry for the poor sucker who has it.

I'm with you I always take the meds now. I have been hit or miss as far as getting seasick so now I always take the pills. The few times I have been sick I only wanted a 9mm and a steady hand so that I could end the misery!

A .45 works better.

Loads of folks I have seen love to chum fish.

I'm not sure I'd down meds just to prevent something that may not happen? :11:

For those that have motion sickness, or get sea sick, certainly, find the solution of choice, and down it!

I've never been sea sick, but my father has a tendency towards it in some conditions. I feel for folks that do, and would highly recommend the patch which is what my dear ol dad uses.

I never had to take meds for a long time, until one day when the seas were very, very rough, and the boat just rolled around and around. The feeling left me with such a bad taste in my mouth (never swallowed so much saliva repeatedly) that I now prepare ahead to prevent another occurrence. I've tried both Triptone and Bonine, and find Bonine more effective and long-lasting. Don't leave home without it. (Oh, wait, that's another commercial!)

Yeah it seems pretty dumb not to take meds when you know you consistently get sea sick...

I was on an overnight fishing boat once... horrible conditions, below deck smelled of puke and diesel fuel and on top half the guys were either smoking cigars, cigs or clove cigs. As soon as one guy puked I was done.

The wierd part is that I thought I was safe since my dad gave me a seasickness patch to wear. Turns out it was 2 years past expiration. He thought I'd be o.k.

Thanks dad.
