Google has several articles saying the same, which is very little. None say how he went missing or who he was diving with.

Emergency services are searching for a diver who has disappeared off the Jurassic Coast.

The diver was reported missing from the Dorset area at about 13:50 BST, according to HM Coastguard.

Lifeboats from Weymouth and Swanage are searching the area, along with two Coastguard helicopters and a fixed wing aircraft.

Dorset Police has been approached for more information.

I believe it was a dive to SV Aracan, about 55m, the boat with divers was a reputable Portland dive boat. Missing diver most likely not found.

Sorry, wrong thread.

You seem to be referencing something about UK diving on a different thread. There is a pin dish & vesta with paintings of the ship for sale, altho I wonder why anyone would group a sewing accessory with a cup...?

Aracan, built 1854, lost 1874 in a collision.

Actually it should be the ship in your eBay link, at least from what I see in one wreck database.

Yes, I edited my post after discovering my mistake. Thanks.

The diver was my husband. Highly qualified with over 25 years experience. He had been diving the SS Arcana and had ascended to 15 metres .

So sorry for your loss. Are you a diver as well?

We are certainly sorry for your loss. We have this Accidents forum to try to learn to prevent more among us. If you would care to share what happened to him after he ascended that far, it would be greatly appreciated, but only if you want to. I do hope that you are discussing this more fully with someone close to you there and/or a grief counselor as you are certainly a victim in this as well.
