Well I went out and bought a jacket syle BC to see if I liked it better than my TransPak2. Got to Catalina went out on the Scuba Cat ( killer boat was realy fun.
So I get all my gear on jump in the drink for the first time
in my brand new Seaquest BC it had never even saw the pool even. So I do my stride in wait for my buddy get and give the ok and what happens when I get horizontal my left wait bag falls out. I see it passing other divers on the way down cuzz Im after it (big time) almost got it and just could not keep up .

So after making damn well sure that my surelock thingys were good to go twise my self and once by the skipper it still fell out . This is not the bad part the bad part is that Seaquest will not help a guy out even after there product failed the first day out faxed them a copy of the recipt and everthing all the girl could tell me was that the pocket are 32 buck and would I like to have one sent to my LDS (#$%^%^%$&^) I said this is the best they could do for me after I spent 400 bones on this thing I just had to sey good buy cuzz my mind was not in full control of what I was about to tell this chick

Has any one else had this problem ??

Other than that the BC is a choice feel I realy dig it cuzz it has pockets and things it is more comfy than the Tpak2
But I just cant get over the just raw deal the company gave me this is not a good thig
Just like Henderson the suits are the best but customer service is just plane BAD! H20 the people I got my boots and gloves from are the best company Ive ever delt with
I broke a sipper on my boot the guy said whats you address and I got a new pr the next day after I offerd to buy a new pr. sorry still pissed! :m16:

Dang 50...sorry to hear about that.

I have had an SQ PQD for about 3 years now and I think it is a fine
piece of gear. Now, mine does have the regular velcro...I wouldnt
have those sure locks....because the test dives I did with one there
wasnt anything sure about them.

It interesting you went from the TP to the SQ......like I said...I have been
using the PQD for a while...and I just got a bp and wing from DR. I got the
stainless steel bp, recwing and the TPII harness system. Hopefully I will
have better luck than you.

One thing I would advise anyone.....no matter what you have to do....no matter
how far you have to drive....try your new gear out in a pool first. I am sure I will
get blasted for that but your experience could have come out much worse
than just an uncooperative company.
Take care...

Agree that it is interesting that you went to jacket from a TPII. I also have a ProQD+(velco) with well over 50 dives on it. Great rig. Never have I had an unintended weight pocket release. I find my TPII more comfortable in that it is much more streamlined. No, it does not have the large pockets but you can add them. I have several different weight pockets some old some new some large some small and several other versitle pockets that I use depending on my diving. The SQ is a great rig IMO I just had to change my gear set up for cave/technical diving and needed to be able to dive doubles.

How many dives do you have on the TPII and why do you not like it? Just interested.

I do like the TransPakII. and I was trained in a rig simler the Scuba pro X tek.
I have over 50 dives in a harness back inflate BC.I just wanted to try somthing else that had pockets and was more comfy than the TransPakII. Also Im going further in diving and stared helping with classes and all the students are useing jacket style BC's.
The QD is realy nice I love it even with the problem I had.

Hope when I get a new pocket It will not happen again

I just needed to wine a bit thanks for the support

Huh. I dove a SQ BC for years, and never had a problem with the Surelock system. I dont use that BC anymore, however. I use a BP&W now, and my weights dont fall out.

Never had that problem myself but i've seen divers put too much weight in the pockets and lose one. I don't know what the user's manual says but anything more than about 2kg in an integrated weight pocket is too much in my experience.

Sorry to hear that they gave you the treatment they did. In a way I can understand it. Warranties are for things that break. Insurance is for things you lose. You really need both.

R..

50feet sorry to hear about your misfortune but I would have to agree with Rotourner on this one unless you could prove the release mechanism was defective which is possible on any BC.

I have the same BC and regularly load up those pockets with 10 lbs each (max recommended by the company I believe) and have hit the water from four or five feet with no problems. Currently have about fifty dives on the BC.

I do make sure that I grab the black plastic ring at the front of the pocket with one hand and push the pocket in as far as it will go with the other hand. Only then will I push the clasp in and listen for that loud click which I can hear with a 7mm hood on.

Maybe your LDS will at least lower the replacement price to close to cost if you ask nicely.

If you bought it from your LDS and tell them your sob story, ask them if they'll give it to you at cost...

You didn't check out your gear BEFORE doing an open water dive in it? For shame, always check everything out before diving, but that is beside the point. Instead of calling SQ you should have immeadiately gone to the LDS you bought it from. I can't say for a fact but but you might have had better luck. Bypassing your LDS should be used after trying to settle things locally.

But actually, I've never seen the problem you discribed without overloading the weight pockets, and I've got a few hundred dives on my ProQD

one more vote for Diver0001 and puffer. There is a difference between the zipper and user error. The surelock system is new and perhaps the captain didn't know what to look for,and you had it on obscuring your view. If you broke the zipper on the bc they would fix it for you just like the boot.
Another thing is that the pockets may have been overloaded. Did you use the trim pockets?
Lastly, what was preventing one of the other divers from retrieving it for you? (j/k)
