I'm researching BCDs to purchase my first one. I've heard the Diva is a good fit for females, especially with the sternum strap. Just wanted to see if anyone has owned one of these to get some honest feedback. Thanks!

My wife dives a Diva LX, weight intergrated. She likes it due to the combination front and back inflation compartments. The drawbacks are that it is a bulky BC, with limited pocket capacity (due primarily to the weight intergration).

Not sure how much this helps, but even though it is the only BC she's ever owned (did her OW dives in a rental - but now with over 100 dives on the Diva), in her research of other models, she still prefers its features.

I have run into a few ladies with the DIVA that really like it.

My wife had the DIVA LX and really did not care for it. The fit was OK but The cylinder cradle made for a high center of gravity and the padding was an incredible air trapper. When I'd put in in the rinse barrel I though the air cell had gone to crap. What I was seeing is a perpetual alka-seltzer of stow-away buoyancy escaping through the edge binding.

She is immensely more happy (and capable) in her DSS Singles Rig.

The Diva and DIVA LX models that I have seen are 2 very different products.

Being a lady, my best advice is to try them on, and inflate. The fit and adjustments will really assist you in finding the right BCD for you. I dive the Hera, but tried them all on in the search process. Make sure you can easily reach everything and that the BCD isn't going to rub on your hips, and you can easily access your integrated weight removal (and that you like how they secure). Then go from there.

Please do yourself a favor and try on as many different brands, types, and styles you can before you purchase. What anyone else thinks about a BC doesn't matter, what matters is what fits you best.

For instance, my first BC was a Diva which I purchased based on a friend's gushing about hers. I didn't bother to do my homework first, and within 10 dives I knew I had made a huge mistake. Fortunately I have purchased used and was able to sell it on ebay for what I bought it for, but had I done my homework to begin with, I wouldn't have had the hassles of selling, etc.

I wound up buying a Zeagle Zena because of its minimalistic design (it's basically a corset with a wing). I hated having a bladder inflate around me and under my arms, and hated the feeling of so much bulk under my arms and around my body. The Zena and Diva are like night and day. My friend still loves her Diva and I love my Zena....what is right for her isn't right for me, and vice verse.

Pick the BC that fits you best and go diving!
