I have 3 questions, which I hope someone can answer:
1. Does anyone know when this model was last manufactured? I know it has been replaced by the XLT. I bought a new QD at a "close-out" in May, 2004. It is now showing a lot of wear. My local shop has a new QD for sale, and I'd like to know how old it is likely to be.
2. Does a BCD have a "shelf life"? i.e., if it has been sitting in a warehouse or on a rack for 5 years, will the material have started to break down? I really like the QD better than the XLT, but don't want to buy something that will not last.
3. How long *should* a BC last? Although my BC has seen lots of use, my husband bought his at the same time, and is not showing nearly as much wear (same number of dives). It's seen over 250 dives, but has always been well rinsed and hung up after each day of diving.
