I have the Balance and have to say that I love it. A downside to it that I have noticed is that it doesnt have a dump valve on the right shoulder. You have a dump valve on the left shoulder if you pull the power inflator, which I dont use for fear of breaking it...

I have noticed its trim characteristics are GREAT... It fits me like a parachute harness (minus the leg straps), and is very comfortable (even walking down stairs)...

Ok onto the ONLY negative thing I have come across (which is probably my own fault..), the integrated weight pouch system is GREAT!!! The thing is that you must make sure the weight pouches are locked into place for SURE before the dive.... I did a dive 2 weeks ago and went head down to look in a small crevice and lost the weight pouch.... now this was only half way into the dive so I didnt really notice it until I got to the safety stop (which I couldnt do)....

I give it a 9.8/10...

Hmm, I have a Balance which I just bought in February. It has the dump on the left shoulder from the inflator, a dump on the right shoulder and one lower right. Perhaps the newer one's have the right shoulder dump?

As for pulling the inflator hose to dump air, I have an Air Source installed on my Balance and the owners manual says the primary means of dumping air is to pull the inflator hose.

Are you sure that isnt the "pro" model? Also I bought my at my LDS and didnt get the manual, but I too have the air source... and now that I know that, I will have to use that.... I personally prefer using the dump valves over the inflator hose...

No, not a Pro. The manual covers both the Balance and the Libra.

I was at my LDS today and asked the shop owner about pulling the inflater hose, if things will "wear out" using it as some posters have mentioned. He said that the cable inside the hose will wear, but no big deal..he has more of them. <G>

Yes, I think this is a new feature...read about that in the recent Scuba Diving review of this BC...I have one that is 3-4 years old and the more I dive it, the less I like it becuase of the absence of the right shoulder dump... esp given the tendency of it to trap air on the right...I've got an XL which has a big (50lb) bag ...very tough to get the air out of in a hurry without some gymnasitics to get the air to shift...I'll be trading up soon.
