I am going to be an instructor at Seacamp in the Florida Keys this summer. I was wondering if anyone on the board has been their either as a camper, or as staff, to give me a little first hand knowledge of what to expect in all aspects of the camp from the diving, to the housing, what to bring, etc.

Are you going to be a science instructor or a scuba instructor? There's a big difference. I will fill your very pores with information about seacamp, my home away from home... at least until they canned me! Oh the humanity. You may visit my dubious photo gallery from certain years, but let me know what your job title is and I'll get back to you. Who did your hiring, anyway?

Gonna be a SCUBA instructor. PM'd you the rest of the details.

Bob3, You have any words of wisdom about the diving around BPK? I've dove other keys (west, largo, cujoe) but only in the winter.

hey i would be really interested in going to sea camp next year! Let me know if its worth going, especially for the scuba!!!

JrDiva,
It really is a lot of fun. A lot of the kids that are here come year after year, and some kids come from all over the world. Depending on your age and certification level, there are 4 different SCUBA classes. SCUBA 1 is for divers needing to get certified. If you are already certified you can take SCUBA 2, which are science based classes on SCUBA. SCUBA 3 is for those who are 15 or older and have at least 12 logged dives, that they can take a master diver course. And SCUBA 4 is doing research on the reef. If you have any more questions let me know. My access to the internet is pretty limited down here, so it might take me a couple weeks to respond.
