Hi, does anyone here has a dual strobe setup for Sea & Sea YS-D1 working side by side with YS-110a? Do you facing any problem using 2 different model of sea & sea strobe?
I'm currently using single strobe setup YS-110a & thinking to add on another strobe but unfortunetely YS-110a has been discontinue in production. :depressed: So, the only choice i have is go for YS-D1 as my 2nd strobe to shoot Wide Angle.
My concern now is the new setup gonna be 1 side with YS-110a and the other side is YS-D1, does the strobe recycle time the same & produce a good lighting?

You shouldn't worry about recycle time being the same, you can only shoot as fast as your slowest strobe and that will be the 110a. They will work fine together with very similar color temps; this is a good setup.

My YS-110a flooded so I bought the YS-D1. Never have these two set up together but FYI, the YS-D1 has the optical out, supposedly for connecting the optical cable to drive the second strobe.

Should work ok. You should use the 110 deg. diffuser on the D1 to match the 110a. Not sure what camera you're using but if the 110a works in TTL the YS-D1 will too, even if you have to switch to compatibility TTL mode.

Use a dual cord from the camera, running between the strobes is incredibly awkward.

I use the YSD-1 with my old YS-110. The only issue I've run into is that the YSD-1 is so much more powerful that I tend to get flare on that side on wide angle shots, so I have to be conscious of turning it down compared to the YS-110. The YS-110 also has a better array with the three bulbs in triangular pattern, giving a wider softer beam. The YSD-1 can be harsh locally, especially at higher settings. (and when the diffuser falls off, which is usually-pinch the two tabs in a bit before each dive and it's less prone to coming loose)
