we used to have mx5s in hire and they worked a treat!

Remember a couple of things:
1) Fixed focus lens so you have to choose your subject. Getting closer to a 1 inch nudibranch will not help you as it will be blurry. Stick with a rough guide of arm's length away from your subject - no closer. You can always enlarge and crop.
2) Use 100 speed film. Unless you are deep or it is dark the camera handles this really well.
3) Check out the close-up lens attachment - worth the extra few dollars.
4) The flip up view finder actually is pretty accurate, but remember it is not meant to be held against your mask and that you still need to leave a little border when framing.
5) The flash is only good for about 3 maybe 4 feet...farther away just shoot for blue. You can work with some of the images on the computer later if you need to.
6) We found that sometimes the counter didn't work properly, but this didn't impact the actual taking pictures...just read the little number with a grain of salt and shoot til it won't shoot no more!
7) As with all camera gear, get to know it. Practice - in the water ideally...even your local pool. On this camera the biggie will be getting to know what subject size and distance suits.

Have a great time!
