I'm a Fish!
Here I go.

I have Canon G10, Canon WP-DC28, sea and sea 110a strobe, arm and tray,as well the fiber optic.
In two weeks I will have the Ikelite housing. The question is if this strobe can work with the TTL future in the housing? or I will continue use the fiber optic?
Also bought the cable for the connection if necessary.

So far I have not a complaint for the canon housing. I've been using for six months, almost every day ( I work as an Instructor on the island of Cozumel). But it is time to make an improvement (of course I would have preferred a Patima or Fix). It will be for the near future.

Thank you in advanced.

Alf.

Alf--Welcome to SB! Unscrew the port cover on the bottom rear of the 110A, align, then push in the TTL cord connector and carefully screw down the threads. Plug the other end of the connector cord into the Ike housing when you get it (follow Ike's instructions) and you'll have TTL. Oh, on the 110A set the strobe selector to TTL, turn Slave switch to Off and crank light level control to full so it can adjust through the entire range of output.

Part of what you paid for w/ the Ike is that external flash connector bulkhead for TTL (which of course the WP-DC28 does not have) , so enjoy it and skip the FO connection. TTL should work in almost all the G-10's modes except Manual. Enjoy the new toy! // ww

I've read many times that the TTL bulkhead in Ikelite housings only works with Ikelite strobes. Non Ike strobes can only be used in manual via the electrical sync cord or via fiber optic. I don't have an Ike housing and cannot confirm this first hand.

Call me "old school" but why is TTL so important to uw photographers?
I find TTL gives a bland average lighting effect. This was true with the old Nikonos cameras and even SLR's. One has much more creative control with strobes and cameras in manual mode. When shooting with the G-10 in Tv or Av mode you can use TTL with the S&S 110a strobe, but I find the results are boring and not very dramatic. Manual mode gives 100% control over strobe output, shutter and f-stops, plus you can get better contrast in your photos. As the wwwanker said in past posts, uw photography has a definite range to work in. Most of the strobes give good even lighting out to about four feet. It's very easy to use one ISO (80 ISO) and lock on to what strobe levels, shutter speeds and f-stops to use in this range. In macro mode, once you find the settings that give good results, you rarely need to change. Try it... you will be pleased.
"Going up the digital learning curve and loving it!"

Thank sooke.

But as I read, only Ikelite Strobes operate in manual mode with the Ikelite housing, strobe is a sea and sea.

Please guys correct if I'm not quite right.

I mean when you think about it, learning to scuba dive was much more complicated than learning to run a digi-uw camera on manual. When you started diving you may have thought at some point "I'll never be able to.." (clear a mask, do a CESA, buddy-breathe--whatever) but you worked at it, practiced and then just did it--and now you enjoy diving. Heck, the truth is you probably won't even die in a ghastly manner if you make a big mistake shooting in manual, so really; why not "risk" it?? :eyebrow: // ww

Ikelite does say on their website that non-Ikelite strobes only work in manual mode with their housings and cables. Ikelite has a forum here on Scubaboard.

You can ask them directly.

Some of the ways to learn is by asking. But it helps a lot trial and error.

Again, thank you for your time and patience from all of you.
