Hello,

I am planning to go to the sea of Cortez in May. We would like to find a good place to stay providing food and dives without any extra hidden costs. We don't really care about being in a five star hotel but at least quiete, clean and safe.

As for the dives we like the clubs which aren't overcrowded and which know the good spots.

We have seen on the web manta club, cantamar, cortez club... Who else? Any good ideas?

Is it better to stay on the diving club spot or go elsewhere?

I have read that food was expensive? True, untrue?

welcome aboard

When I dove in La Paz I stayed in town at the Marina Hotel. You can find great Mexican seafood at reasonable prices by walking down the bayfront until you smell something good. We dove with Baja Diving & Service (Club Cantamar). They sent someone to pick us up every morning and dropped us off after diving.

Thank you. What time of the year did you go there? We are planning to go there in May. sShould we take semi-dry suits? Didi you go often to see the sea-lions with them? Did they knew where to find the pelagics?

We stayed at LaConcha; it was fine and food was good, but I can't remember if it was included, expensive, or what. Club Cantamar sent a van everyday to pick us up also. We were there in June; we saw the sea lions and more moray eels than I've ever seen, but none of the larger pelagics. then again, we knew we weren't in the best season. And in June, the water was COLD !! We were wearing 5 mil fulls, gloves, hoods, and it was still cold.

If we were to go to LaPaz again, it would definitely have to be in the prime season for me, but we still had fun.

Back to food, there was the most Excellent little italian restaurant in town. I'm sorry I don't remember the name, it wasn't on the street facing the ocean, but more like on a second street facing away from the ocean - it was SOOOO good !

Thank you.

What currency did you use american dollar or local currency?
