Scubapro vs Cressi vs Aquatec BC's

Hi Everybody,

I’m CMAS 1* diver and this summer i will take CMAS 2*.
I’m looking at getting a new diving gear and BCD.
We live in a warm water environment where is the Mediterranean Sea in Turkey so water temperature is minimum 15 oC (59 F), generally up to 20 oC (68 F). We are also recreational diver who are planning to dive maximum 40 meters (131ft) depth, generally between 20 – 30 (65 – 98 ft) meters. I dive approx. 20 times in a year.

About BCD, i’m looking Scubapro T-One or Cressi Aquapro 5R or Aquatec BC-65 Atlas.
Scubapro T-One; cheapest but very simple.
Cressi Aquapro 5R; more accessories but price a bit more than Scubapro.
Aquatec BC-65 Atlas; more accessories, cheapest but Aquatec is not more used.
Which one should i select? What is the best BCD for me?

Please let me know what is the best BCD for me?

Hi Anatolian, That you are looking at those brand of bcs, does that mean there are shops your way that carry them. Once again if there are, see if you can rent the brand and model you like first, before you commit to buying one.

I have said this before, and I am going to say it again. At the end of the day, you have to be happy with your gear. And sometimes, little idiosyncrasies do not present themselves right away, but only after much use.

Every diver, including myself, has a personal preference, each with a different set of criteria.

Myself being a big Scubapro fan, of course I'm going to say get the Scubapro model. But do not let my loyalty to Scubapro influence your decision, because once again you have to wear that bc, not me.

As you put your time in the water, you are going to find that down the road, your criteria might change as you develop a style that is unique just to you. The bc you buy today, you might not even like tomorrow.

Once again, I would see if I could rent the different models first, and then dive the daylights out of them. Make sure that bc on your first dive, is the same one on your last. Because now's the time to find out what you like and dislike, before you commit to a purchase.

I can sit here all day, as well as other divers, and tell you how great are gear is, and how it works for us.

Remember one thing also, the happier you are, and the more comfortable you are with your gear, the more diving you are going to want to do. This will happen as you put your time in the water. But do not let a bad decision prevent or hider you from putting your time in the water. You can pick up any classified, and see brand new gear for sale that is hardly used.

I would hate that to happen to you.
