Looks like the new tech line should be out in March. I'm very interested to see what it's all like. We are a Dive Rite dealer as well as SP, but have asked my SP rep to set me up with a backplate, wing and harness to start...so we'll have to see how it all is. The all black mk25/a700 looks pretty badass, though...I'm tempted to order a couple sets and move my mk25/g250v's to a rental kit...

anybody else get a look at the stuff yet? I wasn't at DEMA this year, but i guess they had some of it there.

dunno, hope that's not how it turns out, but I honestly don't know much about that relationship. Just got an email from my rep saying to expect my backplate/wing in march (he owed me a knighthawk, but i told him i'd rather test out the new backplate and wing)

Well I know all of Halcyon's regulators are Scubapro's, so I wouldn't be surprised to find out that Scubapro's backplates are Halcyon's.

Is this stuff on their web page?

Not yet. If they sell service kits to divers it might catch on. Otherwise the tech community will just say screw it. Wonder if they will price along the same lines as other gear or overprice it like all their other stuff. If you are a Dive Rite dealer and want to continue to get tech business stay with DR.

SP regulators are among the favorites for tech divers. In the past, the SP Tec wing and harness was very popular. This is not the first time Scuba Pro has catered to tech divers.

I had a look at their tech line at DEMA and was not impressed at all. The wings and harnesses were not Halycon. Their backplates looked pretty generic and they had a few different harnesses there - lots of drings and clips if you like that kind of thing but nothing that would make me change from DR, DSS or any of the true tech manufacturers out there.

The whole issue with tech gear boils down to "people who tech dive" and "people who are in love with the idea of tech diving". It has been my experiance that by the time someone gets to tech they have some pretty strong feelings about gear choices and the reasons behind that choice. That choice is allmost allways focused on durability, function, and user servicibility. Manufacturer or whether it is new rarely comes into play as a factor of choice. The divers I dive with including myself have ever changing rigs and eqipment based on what works for now and what will be optimal for where we are going. YMMV

yes, the plates are halcyon. yes, the reps at dema were clueless about tech in general, and woefully clueless about sidemount. you guessed it, i won't be buying any.
