Anyone know what the differences are between the new SP R295, and the R390. I noticed on the SP web site that the 390 isn't listed anymore.

Search Search Search. It has been covered....... And, R290, not R295 for your reference. :)

Hoosier - the poster has his facts straight

The R190 has been dropped as well.

The Scubapro UK site still has the R390 listed , so you can go to both sites and compare, lead bottom

Looks to me like the differences are cosmetic - the writeups on features are about the same. There's no mention of VIVA adjustment ability on the R295 unlike the R390 however.

The Scubapro UK site doesn't list the R295 - it's just for our special North American market so far it seems.

Thanks for the support. I didn't think my eyes were crossed, but it wouldn't have been the first time.

You should check the Scubapro UK site every so often - I find new product writeups there usually before they ever hit the US site, and the language translation hurdle is small enough for me to overcome (I'm not great with foreign languages - math is more my gig).

For example, check out the Lady Xtender for the UK female diver market - you can combine dive gear & jewelry as a gift there!

In the US the R390 is supposed to have been replaced by the R295 a few months ago, but I have not seen any of them ship yet. The R295 is generally similar to the R390 but has an ugly purge cover and no diver adjustable flow vane.

The R190 will still be around as will the S550, S600, G250HP and X650

Why did the R190 disappear from the on-line Scubapro US & UK catalogs? I thought this was a sign they would no longer be offered.

I think you are right. Usually, US market is followed after EU market, both new and old models. Maybe, US is a good market to get rid of the remaining inventory...

The R190 is still on the US site along with the R295 but the R390 is not. And the R295 is a compact R390 ish regulator but without an adjustable flow vave.

The R290 is on the UK site and is billed as a compact version of the R190 - which I find confusing as that is exactly what an R390 is, and of course the R390 is still on the UK site.

Consequently, in the US you can have an unbalanced downstream poppet second stage in the "normal" R190 size with it's full sized diaphragm and an adjustable flow vane. Or you can have it in a small, ugly purge covered version without the adjustable flow vane. So if you want small size, you have to accept even more compromises than before (ie: you get no adjustable flow vane like you did on the R390).

In the UK, you can have an unbalanced downstream poppet second stage in the compact R390 size and with an adjustable flow vane. Or you can just get the original R390 with it's small size and...of course...an adjustable flow vave.

So in the US, you have to have the large size or go all the way up to the balanced S550 to get an adjustable flow vane.

While in the UK, you can buy what is from a feature standpoint, the same reg but with a different number and purge cover.

It makes no sense to me. The R190 and R390 choices worked great because they offerred the same full features, just in different sizes. And if you did not want to use the adjustable flow vane, you could just leave it set in one place.
