To me, switching to a M25/S600 from a TX100 is a little like switching to a Lexus from a Mercedes (or vice versa). They're both great. If money isn't an object to you, then why not? If it is, then why?

The 'upgrading' is only applicable to me, eventhough I don't 'upgrade', my other friends are also considering the setup :)

And frankly, we got quite a good deal, the MK25/S600 is slightly cheaper than the TX100 :D

Hi

Appreciate some advices :)

I have been offered to get MK25- S600 at a rather reasonable price .But being a :newbie: who just took up diving not very long ago and it is the 1st time, I'm getting a reg for myself, I can't help but wonder should I or should I not get it.

I have searched and read past threads on Regulator and notice that Apek and Scubapro seem to be the preferred one. Divers chose each of them for various reasons. and so it kind of make me wonder which one should I get.

I love diving, I can never get enough of it and always wanting to learn more. I wondered is MK25-S600 a bad choice if one day I decided dive double and do tech. Does that means that I have to get additional reg solely for diving double cos it seem to be alot of people esp tekkies prefer Apeks.

Given a choice, I would prefer to get something that will last when I move onto another stage of diving.

So Is it feasible get Mk25-S600 if I have plans to advance further and why

Its only weakness is that in cold water (defined: under 45F or so) it MAY freeze. This is a potential problem for ALL piston regulators.

If you do not intend to dive in cold water, then this does not matter to you. In that case, its a wonderful reg.

I prefer the way the S600 breathes to the Apeks that I tried; I found that the Apeks breathed wet when inverted or in other "funny" positions. That was, however, my only complaint with it.

I've heard a couple of people complain that Apeks breathe wet, but the only time I've found that to be the case with my two TX100s was when I improperly installed the diaphragm cover. If you omit the "cage," there will be a very small gap between the diaphragm cover and the diaphragm, which will allow water to seep in (the threads in the 2nd stage body terminate and won't allow you to overly tighten the cover). Since the exhaust valve isn't at the bottom of the body when you're in an inverted position, the reg will breathe wet.

I have a Mk25/S600/R380 and so far I am not overly impressed buy it. Actually I am impressed that the R380 breathes better than the S600 but hopefully when I get the regs back next week I can say that I love them. I decided that they had better go back to the shop since I am none too impressed with them so far. I have no complaints with the reg except that it hasn't lived up to expectations so far. I hope I don't endup wishing I had bought the Atomic Z1 (that I tried and liked) and saved more $100 for something else

Take it back and have it adjusted....

I love mine; the R380 should NOT breathe better than the S600! :)

(Actually, the R380 is not bad, but its a downstream - not a balanced poppet like the S600 - and even when well-tuned won't be as smooth as the S600 is)

Does anyone have any pictures to show on how to route the hoses on the MK25 first stage. Am planning to install a 7ft hose on it.

Tried searching pass thread but couldn't find any picture or links at all.

Hi guys,

What are your thought on the Scubapro MK25/S600 regulator? My friends and I are tempted to get one.

I started off with a Mares Abyss, and has since changed to Apeks TX100/TX50. Would it be a wise choice to 'upgrade' to the scubapro?

I use the reg mainly for single tank diving in tropical waters

Thanks in advance for the advice
`

I don't think it would be much of an upgrade.

Route the 7' hose off the bottom port on the turret. The others route however is most convenient.
