What tool is required to remove the yoke adaptor on the Scubapro MK25 1st stage? Just got a conversion kit and am having a hard time figuring out how to get it off. Thanks!

Gil

1 inch socket.

Unfortunately, you can't get it from your local HW stores. The ordinary socket has a thick wall.

I use a giant adjustable wrench chucked up in my vise. *shrug*

If you are in tight with your LDS they might do it for a reasonable fee, or free if they are in the giving mood.

You can get a special socket at scubatools.com if they're up and running yet with the new ownership. You can also modify a regular socket if you have a grinder or some way to remove enough metal so it will fit in the yoke. You'll also need a couple of allen wrench sockets and a torque wrench to torque the DIN fitting. It's something like 266 in/lbs which is about 22 ft/lbs for the DIN retainer.

Bummer they are not available yet.

That does not work. I destroyed a high quality Craftsman socket for nothing. It still would not clear, after grinding it to almost nothing.

Not over tightening it is important to the life of the first stage, and to your life :eyebrow:

Get a cheap Sears Craftsman socket, stop by a local machine shop and ask them to spin it down for you.

I'd do it for you but you live in the other Claremont.:11doh:

I just a use a big adjustable Crescent wrench. I've used it on all my regs and never had problem getting the nut loose. I never could find a socket, open end or box end wrench that would work. Might not be the ideal tool but it works.

Instead of trying to fit a socket or wrench inside of the yoke, you can use a large adjustable wrench on the outside of the yoke. Others have mentioned using an adjustable wrench, but placing the wrench outside of the yoke is looking at it from a different angle than you may have considered.

When I discovered this, it was one of those Aha! moments.
