Could I use the mk17 with the s600 and still get the non freezing feature? And would I have any problems with any of the combinations in warm water?

I hadn't had my MK25/S600 tuned down last year and experienced no freezing at depth in water temperatures in the high 40's F. This year I'm diving dry and did have it tuned down to accomodate the much lower water temps and so far, no freezing at depth in water temperatures in the mid 30's to upper 40's F.

I love the mk25/s600 the best!

The Mk 17 S600 combination works well in cold water and any of the combinations will work great in warm water.

ScubaKimmie:
Do NOT use the MK-25 in cold water. Not unless you've detuned the heck out of it. I've seen many of them freeze at depth during a dive. Then again if you have to detune it, why buy it? It's a great reg for warm water but cold water? Forget it.

Kimmie is correct(twice in a short while!)

I think the question is, how cold is the water you're planning to dive? If you'll be spending time in water that's under 40 degrees more than once or twice a year, sounds like you should look at the MK25. Anything warmer than 40, and there aren't any issues with the MK25.

I have no experience with the S650, but love my S600. I don't see enough difference to justify the extra money, especially since they're both great regs, and I like the looks of the S600 better. :)

Did you mean to say:

Umm, yeah. Sorry. That's what I meant to say.
