Thanks to all who replied. I am so frustrated. I love diving but I have really soured on owning equipment and depending on other people to service it. Now my count of missing regs is at 10 weeks tomorrow. The lds is close to my house so I go by often trying to luck in to someone actually being at the shop. I have left numerous messages and no call back. Now I hear from another lds that the lds with my equipment is going out of business. Ahh all makes sense now. Guess they plan on keeping my regs! I can't even use my bcds because I have (scratch that) had air2's on them and guess where they are. Guess I will be renting equipment on my florida trip in a few weeks and won't need that extra luggage for my Cozumel dive trip in December.

Sorry for the rant, but I can just scream.

You can easily learn to service your own gear with a little help from a knowledgeable friend, a couple of books, and lots of advice on this forum. It's not that difficult. This will really improve your outlook on diving.

For now, go get your gear tomorrow; just take it back and don't let the dive shop screw around with you. Then either find another shop with recommendations from this forum, or just dive it. To be honest, annual service is really overkill unless you dive a lot and don't take great care of your gear.

With less than 50 dives on a reg that is one years old, I think you are servicing your regs about 2X as often as necessary. That is my experience with Zeagle anyway. I service my regs about every 100 dives which is about every two years.

IMO free parts is a bit of a joke as I doubt your reg needs much in the way of parts at the time. Replacing orings is not a horrible idea even if not necessary... but wait if it's not necessary why do it! :D

If you need to dive your stuff, I'd go to the LDS, pick it up, and tell them to call you when they are ready to work on it. If you hate the way the LDS is treating you, there are plenty of shops that will service your reg likely at half the cost. TDL, and ScubaToys are two such examples. I think the price is $55 for 1st/2nd/octo, but I maybe off by a few bucks.

I suppose if this is a freebie, take advantage of it, but anyone who told me seven weeks to service a reg would have my business for the amount of time it takes to leave the shop! My last service door to door was less than ten days, and most of that was ship time.
