I have this haggard looking MK14 that I'm curious if I can bring back to life. It's definitely a "project" 1st stage, lol.

Does anybody know if it is possible to buy a service kit for it that would include both the diaphragm and the hp seat? My understanding is the kit p/n 10-705-045 doesn't include them. If it is not possible, is a kit for any newer stage known to fit MK14?

It also misses both boots - plastic and rubber. How hard are they to come by?

Obviously, it's not something I'm going to dump a lot of $$ into, just doing the research for now.

I think I might have a couple HP seats for it stored somewhere that I got from a parts bucket — I’ll check

Never had a 14 so can’t say about the diaphragm, I suspect it’s the older thicker version 🤷🏽‍♀️

So I rummaged through my stash of parts like a racoon in a bin and found nothing (so far, I might need have a closer look simce I meed to organize it anyway)

Thank you for trying! The diaphragm is definitely thicker than, say, that of the MK17.

The diaphragm side came apart fairly easily, but I'm having a grand old time disassembling the swivel side. Asked a friend who works at a valve shop to give it a try at work. He is a diver too, so hopefully won't butcher the brass.

Best bet it’s the same one in the 16/18 (and old early 19)
ie the 11 diaphragm + thrust washers should work (but I’m out of my depth)

No, you should use for normal service of the MK16/18 the 10.756.045 Upgrade Kit with the thick diaphragm.
It's a bit irritating, because every time you are supposed to buy again the orifice, even when it is not necessary to change it on every service.
The thin membrane had been implemented in the MK17/19, because of the dry chamber.
It seems the designer believed the thicker membrane not to be necessary, and with the MK16/18 membrane you would also not be able to torque the chamber to 30Nm without risking a damage of the membrane and threads.
A bit strange anyway, but the change of the valve configuration is not compulsory.

No idea why SP doesn't sell the MK11 Service Kit as MK11/16 Service Kit.......

No idea if the 14 can have the HP seat/orifice upgrade that the 16/18 got, you’d be able to use the current kits then

The MK14 (brass) and MK18UL (lightweight marine grade aluminum/ceramic composite) are about the same regulator only made from different materials. The MK14 (swivel first stage) has been upgraded to the MK16 (non-swivel), but the MK18UL is still being made.

Hope this helps,
Ken

Again I’m out of depth

@axxel57 any thoughts?

Angelo Farina was one of the nicest and helpful guys here. Even though he’s no longer with us he’s still helping us out.
Tells us the diaphragm is indeed p/n 107-05-119, which is the Mk11 diaphragm.

Excellent, thank you!

What I find very interesting, is that only two parts are marked "annual replacement" for a DIN version on this schematic - the filter, and the inner balance chamber o-ring. I guess maintenance requirements were very different 30 years ago.

I looked up the service kit it is indeed very minimal and doesn’t include the HP seat (for some reason called piston) (even the aftermarket one at scubagaskets)

The 117 is a 02-006 sh85 EDPM oring, it was very briefly used in the mk17 (1st Revision, then updated to x.x.317)
