does anyone have an opinion/review on the scubapro ladyhawk? the (male)salesperson said it was great but i can't find anything. also, is scubapro worth the price? i saw some great deals on the genesis athena, seaquest diva and elan. any opinions on those? it's gonna be i first bc. thanks for any help!

My wife uses one and really likes it. The weight system is nice, since you can't accidentally open the pockets. The only gripe we've found is that there aren't many places to put things. It has no pockets besides the weight system. She wears the size tiny, so there isn't a whole lot of room to hang things before it starts getting cluttered in front. Other than that, she finds it very comfortable, says it sits well on the surface, and hasn't had any problems.

I've heard salespeople talk about the Zeagle model, the Zena, I think, that is also supposed to be a well designed bc.

Glim....if you can, rent (or beg, borrow, steal) the BC's that you are thinking of buying and at least do a pool dive. And while diving, try to evaulate EVERYTHING you want that BC to do besides help with boyancy (Pockets, d-rings, weight system, rear dumps, fit, etc). Be sure to think beyond where you are now with your diving experience to where you might be two to three years from now.

Trying on BC's in the store over street clothing is onething...diving with it is [red]totally[/red] different.

Let me know how you get on.

I've tried one in a pool (managed to corner a fellow diver coming out of the changing rooms) but nothing in earnest.

Unfortunately they're not available in the UK and I can't decide whether to pay to import one or find something else. It's the comfiest BC I've tried so far.

I've tried one one...but thats about it. I'm short waisted, so the backpak still hits my butt..but other than that it was comfortable (at least, in the store).

Does your shop carry the Diva Lux?? That is one SWEET BC! I have the Diva QD (the older model) and love it. The backpak is shorter, so the weight of the tank sits better on my back than with other brands (seaquest seems to use shorter backpaks) The only gripe I have with my Diva is the pockets...which are big enough to put a small backup light in and thats about it. Diva Lux has HUGE pockets, plus an additional pocket in the cummerbund.

If you get a chance, try out a Diva Lux also. (and let me know how the LadyHawke is).

My friend of mine recently got a new ScubaPro LadyHawk BCD. The LDS detached her octopus and told her that she didn't need it anymore. It turns out that the BCD has Air 2 on it.

The question : Is Air 2 standard on the LadyHawk?

I think the LDS sold her a BCD and Air 2 and I think she should ask them to take the Air 2 back. Because she often travels, she would rather have an octopus than Air2.

What in heavens name would traveling have to do with an octopus

Besides that. You can purchase SP BCs with either an inflator or the Air2. As there is a considerable difference in price, I find it difficult to believe she didn't know what she was buying. As the Air2 provides a redundant air source for the donor, an octopus is no longer necessary. Regardless, assuming the regulator belongs to your friend, she can have whatever she wants on it.
Whatever.

It doesn't, however, make much sense to have 3 regulators.

If you're packing and can't take your reg and BC, taking your reg w/ octo and renting the BC is an option. If your alt. air source is separate from your reg, then you need both to have the backup.

Can someone confirm coberry7?

I agree with coberry7, but I don't *know* for sure. My friend ran her concerns by me because she wasn't sure how to approach the LDS. She didn't want to have to pay for switching from Air2 to a normal inflator hose.

She would rather keep her octopus because she takes her reg & octopus on the plane and checks her BCD/fins/etc with her luggage. This way, if she loses her luggage, she can still dive. If she loses the BCD with the Air2, then she needs to bring her octopus (just in case). As it makes no sense to maintain three separate regulators, she wants the Air2 to go away.
