Purchased a G200 secondhand. Popped it open and the air barrel is corroded. Barrel surface where the orifice resides and LP hose connects is scored and butchered.

Are air barrels still available through Scubapro?

Thanks for the help

No new G200 barrels, but that corrosion will respond well to 10 minutes in an ultrasonic with 25-50% vinegar or phosphoric acid-based U/S cleaning solution. Since the area where the orifice is screwed in is static, the corrosion is of little consequence. The scoring is from knucklehead techs who used a metal screwdriver to remove the orifice, instead of a delrin or aluminum tool. As long as you can unscrew the orifice (which sometimes won't be possible until a half hour in the U/S, then things will clean up fine. You can get new orifices, poppets and seats, which is all that matters.

Thanks for the advice. I'm concerned about the LP hose o-ring and how well it will seal.
I'll post a picture tomorrow.

Heavy score marks towards the middle. Toast?

Well, pretty deep scoring. And the scores look to be fairly close to where the oring from the hose fits. You can take some 600 grit WetOrDry sandpaper from the hardware store on a wooden dowel, and polish that down a bit. But first I'd put a new o-ring on your hose and see if it seals. Usually those o-rings are 2-010.

It's a quasi-dynamic (instead of static) o-ring in the sense that when you rotate your second stage on the hose, part of that o-ring sees sliding from either the inside of your barrel, the outside of the hose fitting, or both. If your hose seals, then it won't matter. If the inside of the barrel is too rough, then when you turn the reg around the hose, the part of the oring that will slide will be the side against the hose fitting, while the outside of the oring will stay bound to the barrel. But if it seals, it doesn't matter.

If it doesn't fit, try the 600 grit to smooth it out a little and try again. If it still leaks, you may have a problem. I'll see if I have a spare G-200 around the shop. PM me if you want to chat.
