I concur with @rsingler and will use MK-17 (or my Poseidons) as my primaries if diving single hose in cold environments (I still prefer a double hose), but the MK-2 is such a simple stage, it ends up being quite robust/tolerant. I have no hesitation for its use on a pony in these conditions. A "hot rod" like a MK-25 has a tendency to be problematic...

Years back, I dove MK-5/MK-10 stages here in the Great Lakes for a long time, and really had no problems with dives below the thermocline. I watched others with the "new and great" stages have problems...

The tune plays nearly as much of a role as design...
