I purchased a 48" (approx) long ScubaPro gun (black plastic handle and rod guide/band holder) for $20.00 locally, I have found new rubber bands (it uses 2) now im looking for the tips and rod, I could easily machine the parts but if they are cheap enough, would rather buy them. Who manufactures the replacement parts? does anyone recognize the model of this gun? I have used the same basic thing but half its size and have not seen anything like them through my google search's.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Thean

I am some what baffled at your description of the gun since Scuba Pro made a number of band spear guns since 1963.

However, you are in luck since I also live in Pismo Heights, so PM a message and I will supply a telephone number. You can call me and trot it over and we will have a look and ID it for you.

the gun from tip to back of handle is about 45-46" overall. The spear shaft itself (no tip) is 42" long.
ill see if i can post a pic.

try a dealer who has TRIDENT as a supplier..Trident has the PANTHER (gun you described ) and should have replacement shafts. The tips are usually generic-either something like a 9 mm or 10 mm threaded, and are available where spearfish supplies are stocked.

Trident no longer distributes Bandito. The company who has taken over the comparable panther gun is Keys Dive & Tackle in Florida. The gun is manufactured by Bandito and can be accessed through your local dive store. If it's the gun I'm thinking of with a square tapered hard plastic barrel, the overall length is 45" and the shaft length is 36" x 5/16" with a 6mm male thread. The sling size is 1/2" x 16" x 2.
I have one of these guns and I love it!!!

i love this gun i have three of them on of the bigger ones 45inch give or take and two of the smaller. they are great guns. they come up on ebay once and a will that is were i got my bigger one from they go for about 45-100 bucks the one that i got was band new almost. check it out

Fellows please bear in mind this young lady is referring to a used garage sale gun. It's age is unknown and there is no picture or accurate description of it.

Scuba Pro marketed a series of guns over the year that fit the description of her gun, black plastic handle etc.

The first one that comes immediately to mind is the Scuba Pro 48 # 648 introduced in 1967 and reintroduced on several other occasions. It was and is a real work horse. Has a black plastic handle, and a shaft guide.

The other could possibly be the Panther series part number 33-X48 -00. It not only had a black plastic handle it also has a black plastic barrel.

Both guns are aberations and modifications of the large Bottom Scratcher guns that were custom made in San Diego in the 1930s to 1960s by Potts and Prodanavic (Sp)

JBL and Scuba pro are two different companies...JBL was established by Joe Lamonica in Orange California.

Scuba pro was established in Compton by Gus de la Valle & Dick Bonin.

You need to check out Scuba pro.
