I am in Montana and have an older Scuba pro Air 2 that failed on my trip to Hawaii and the divemaster opened it up and said it was corroded. How much should I pay and where should I send it to get repaired reasonably. Is it worth it or should I just get a TUSA dual air or use an octopus instead.? It seems like annuals cost as much as renting and or buying another one... Suggestions?

Also, where is the best place to get a battery replaced on an older simple TUSA dive computer?

Paul in Montana. ( I don't dive a lot but I have been certified for about 10 plus years)

Paul, I have a ScubaPro Air2, relatively new and in good shape, that I no longer use (have switched to the long hose, bungeed back-up system). Air2 is in working order, looks new. You can have this if you want to email me at tsunami@darientel.net with address. I am never going to use this again and would rather pass it on to someone than have it sit on my office closet floor.

Paul,

If you take Dkktsunami up on his offer (and you should) I can always use your old Air II for parts. Alternatively, PM DA Aquamaster here on Scuba Board, he is a resident Scuba Pro guru and authorized repair tech and will give you the straight scoop without trying to sell you another piece of equipment.

if you are the original owner of the Air 2, the the repair parts should be free from a Scubapro dealer, it should only cost you the labor.

This only applies if it has been serviced annually.

Actually, it does not have to have been serviced annually. But it does have to have been serviced in the last year. A receipt will serve as proof.

How much it will cost will be determined by what needs to be replaced and nobody can answer that until the unit is opened up and inspected. If the guts have rusted it can be an expensive repair, maybe more than the unit is worth, and probably not covered by warranty. Proper maintenance (rinsing, regular service, yadda) is a user responsibility, failure to do so voids the warranty. The "parts for life" program only applies to service kits and then only if you get the regulator serviced annually.

Any ScubaPro shop should be able to work on your Air2.

Any TUSA shop should be able to take care of the battery in your computer.

If you don't have a local shop that carries these lines, try contacting the manufacturer and asking them for advice. They're usually happy to help and SP in particular is very good with customer service issues.

Thank you for all your replies. I replied to the gentleman about the free AIR2. Hopefully that will solve my problem. Parts were corroded inside. FYI, I have never had it serviced but I assume it corroded because the last time I used it I probably failed to clean it and rinse it the way it should have been rinsed. But it had been so long, I can't remember when I last dove and what I did.

Thanks again,
Paul
