1) [red]Collapsing Categories:[/red]

The Collapsing Categories feature allows you to minimize categories that you have already browsed through or do not wish to browse through. By minimizing a category you will not see the actual subcategories until you reload the page. This allows you to focus on the forums you like.

To use this addon click the [-] box by any category to make it collapse and click the [+] to make it expand again.

2) [red]Collapsing Threads:[/red]

After receiving numerous emails about providing a more linear method to our forum we have added in collapsing threads.

Collapsing threads can function in several ways. First off, you can ignore this feature and continue browsing the board as you always have (default option), you can collapse any post on demand or you can set all old posts to collapse automatically.

Collapsed posts will show the author, subject line and author's status in place of the full post. If you wish to view any replies you can simply click the [+] box to make them appear and the [-] to make them go away.

This feature creates a thread-like feeling in which you can easily browse through hundreds of replies without having to scroll pages upon pages of text.

To set this option, go to the User CP then click on Edit Options. You will want to review the option titled "Contract posts you already read?". You may also expand or collapse any thread by clicking the links at the top of the message box.

3) [red]Away Alert:[/red]

Away alerts allow you to easily inform other users that you are going away until a certain date without having to post. This becomes rather useful when, say, you are leaving to take The Forum Operators or Staff on a trip to Cozumel and want people to know that you aren't ignoring them but rather away and will return after a given period of time.

Simply login to your User Cp, aka "Control Panel", then click on Edit Profile and fill out the 3 Away options. Through these options you can set your away status, return date and reason for leaving.

Users trying to message you or view your profile will see that you are away. This helps to save on clutter and confusion when users cannot find each other.

4) [red]Forum Leaders:[/red]

On the front page of the forum there is a link entitled "Forum Leaders" - Forum Leaders displays the complete list of all Moderators along with a direct link to message them. This is the best way to figure out who to contact when you have a question or concern or don't know where to send that extra "steam machines" rebreather that you picked up for KN (I can dream can't I?) - One of these folks will be able to direct you in the right direction.


5) [red]Tell A Friend:[/red]

The "Tell a friend link" allows you to easily share our site with your fellow divers. Simply click the "tell a friend" link at the end of the front page, fill out your friends contacts information and a short message. This is a great way to get your friends to come join you here and help the board grow.

6) [red]Private Message Cleanup:[/red]

The private message clean up link in your private message area allows you to delete all messages with a single click. This helps keep your message boxes from getting full and reduces our server load.

[red]NOTE:[/red] As of June 1st, the system will now automatically delete Private Messages that are over 60 days old. We would still like to encourage you to use this feature if your box gets near full. Some of you have found out the hard way that if you do not clean it then it will fill up and stop your box from accepting any further PM's until it is cleared.



7) [red]Private Message Save:[/red]

In order to best store old messages we have added a private message download/save option that will automatically generate a text file with any private messages you want. Simply click the checkbox by the message you wish to save, click the download button and save the file that pops up to your local machine.

Remember, messages are cleared after 60 days so backup before then!
