ScubaBoard Search
New in ScubaBoard 2021
This may look like the old one most of us ignored because it was so poor, but there is a new search engine under the hood.
The number of options increase significantly as you choose a more specific searches than the "everything" tab. "Search threads" is probably the one you want to use the most often, but others are also useful.
The first five options are pretty straight forward. As of this writing, a keyword is required or no results will be returned. For example, let's say you want to see all of the threads with the "For Sale" prefix in the last year. Chances are pretty good that there is a lowercase "a" in all of them so that "Keyword" is a safe choice. A period/decimal point/dot does not work.
"Prefixes" mean the Title Prefix that you see most often as a "flag" like this these.
Selection options include:
- No choice
- Any — not recommended for Prefixes
- Select one
- Select multiple — use Shift+Click for continuous or Ctrl+Click for non-contiguous lists.
Selection options include:
- All forums, with or without sub-forums
- Select one
- Select multiple — see the list selection modifiers below.
The final search options determine how the results are listed.
List Selection Modifiers
Contiguous Lists
Selecting contiguous lists, no matter how long, is very simple with this technique.
- Click on the first item in your list.
- Shift+Click on the last item in your list. You can scroll down in an example like this in order to display the last item.
Non-Contiguous Lists
You can create a non-contiguous list by using the following method:
- Click on the first item in your list.
- Microsoft Windows: Ctrl+Click
Apple Macs: Command+Click
on each item in the list, the red step-bubbles 2-4 in the above example.
You can also combine both techniques. For example:
- Click on the first item in your list.
- Shift+Click on the last item in your list.
- Microsoft Windows: Ctrl+Click
Apple Macs: Command+Click
on each item in the list that you want to remove from the selection.
