Thought this preliminary analysis would be of interest. This is based on 219 SB divers and 107 Non-SB divers. You'll see the samples are very well-matched demographically, so this seems as fair an "apples-to-apples" comparison as one could get with commissioning a much more rigorous study.

I won't provide detailed "slide-by-slide" comments yet, but my preliminary conclusion is on the last slide.

I look forward to an interesting discussion.

Very interesting! Divers are divers, it would appear.

And... non-divers aren't. Stay tuned for THOSE results!

I'm not surprised by the results. Are any of you surprised? I know lots of divers that have never heard of Scubaboard but they are still my people. As time passes, I've been surprised to find how strongly I feel that way about divers vs non-divers.

You mean science shows we're not "special"???
But we gots us ahsum righting scills! :D

And we always "listen" to the other diver's point of views. ;)

Agreed...very interesting, awaiting the final results.

NON-SB divers are very similar to SB members except for those darn split fins! :)

I wonder what would happen if you put those same questions to the general population without regard to their interests in specific activities. If you asked the general population, for example, to indicate how much they enjoyed the peace and serenity of nature, might they answer in the same statistical pattern?
