Hi Spica,
Welcome to Scuba Board - lots of good people, lots of good advice. It's normal to be a little nervous at first, but once you start blowing bubbles, you'll have the time of your life.
I actually did my IDC/IE pool sessions in Irvine when I was at the (now defunct) PADI College. It was at the Irvine High School if memory serves me correctly.
Keep in touch and let us know how you make out. Trust me, you're gonna LOVE it!

George - I was supposed to have my first pool dive today at the Fullerton YMCA but was postponed. However, I did get into a buddy's pool and breathed underwater for the first time. It was very strange.

As for you pools session in Irvine, there is an aquatic facility next to Irvine HS, which is a couple of miles from me. I had no idea that they hold dive sessions there.

I'll be sure to let you all know how my underwater ventures go. Thanks for the welcome George.

Hi Sean,
It was probably in the aquatic center next to the HS. I have no idea if they still teach diving there. I believe they had a contract with the PADI College back when I was there in 87 - 88, but I don't have any idea what's going on now. The aquatic facility was great for teaching - the pools were clean and BIG! Many of the pool shots in the older PADI O/W manual were shot there - some featuring members of my IDC class.
Good luck and keep in touch!
