The instructor is a cop and the cops are not investigating the incident in a responsible manner?
Is that what I am reading?

Who could imagine the police protecting their own?
And in Texas!

According to the news report the DM who "lost" his dive computer 2 weeks after the incident. NAUI shows his status as Sustaining.

This post hasn't aged well in regards to transparency and a "proper" investigation. Curious @scubablue67 thoughts?

Losing it on a dive, the perfect way to eliminate the evidence. Regardless, the police should have had the device and already downloaded all the information within the first couple of days. The DM should never have been given the opportunity to lose it. The victims computer should be very useful however. I’m always losing those damn computers on lake dives!

Looks like the dive master has only one year of total dive experience. Probably too fast and inexperienced to be a dive master in low vis, or cold deep water.

A status of “Sustaining” means “currently prohibited from providing instruction.” Unsure of NAUI’s standards. But as a former PADI instructor, pretty sure there would have to be at least two current instructors in a group of 8 students if one student was 12 years old.

Here's what I would like to know because it's not specified

Who exactly lost the computer?

It also says one of the computers has been lost?

The girl wasn't wearing more than one computer, I would assume

From reading previous post, it appears the computer of dive master who was assisting with the class was lost several weeks after the tragic event.
