I just recieved a scubapro Aladin Tec for christmas. I'm having some trouble learning how to use it so I was curious to know if anyone here has any tips on how I might use it. I plan on taking a computer diving specialty this summer and possibly going to the pool tomorrow to try it out.

Thank You,
Brandon C.

Brandon,
There is a instructional dvd that should've come with the computer if the dealer purchased the computer after the dvd was released. If you didnt get it dont sweat it, one can be gotten for you with no problem and best of all no charge. You would be best served by visiting your local Scubapro dealer or the dealer in which the computer was purchased from and request it, they're free for registered owners of the computers.

The computer should have come with a laminated card showing the functions and it will help you navigate the different modes. If you look at the card it shows that the computer has circular menus. So pushing the left button or right button brings you through the menu choices and back. Holding one of the buttons down a little longer selects that menu and you can go in and make changes. I remember reading the manual thinking this is impossible, but once you get the circular part its not too confusing.

Thanks for the info guys but i've got a few more questions. I'm currently on the setting the gas mixture and ppO2 max screen. It says 1.40 bar could anything explain this to me. 21% O2 (thats air right?) and 189 max. Could anyone tell me what all this means. I've been reading the book but it hasn't been helping much.

Thank You,
Brandon C.

I'm assuming you do not have your nitrox cert. Just leave the computer set to 21% (you are correct, that is air) and 1.4 (this just sets the pp02 that the computer will alarm at, for air 189ft deep). If you take a nitrox course and begin diving higher percentages of 02 in your tank, you will understand the settings and what they mean, but for now just leave them like they are.

Do a search for nitrox if you'd like more info on why you might want a nitrox cert.

Alright the questions are gonna keep coming until I get this entire thing figured out. Could anyone help me with the dive planner mode on this computer. I've been looking at the laminated cards and the book but it just isn't making any sense to me.

Thank You,
Brandon C.

When you select the dive planner mode it should begin scrolling through different depths at 10ft intervals and giving the number of minutes of NDL for your current nitrogen loading. If you use the dive planner after making a dive you will notice that the times are shorter to account for the nitrogen loading of your previous dive.

The TEC will also plan deco dives in dive planner mode (as your planned depth scrolls by push the select button and you will enter the deco planning screen for that depth), but you should wait until you have deco training to actually do deco dives.

Thanks everyone for your help. I'll probably have more questions later after I take it diving for the first time (probably not till this summer).

Thanks Again,
Brandon C.

You can probably learn how to use your computer without a special class. It seems complicated now but after messing with it a little, you should pick it up just fine.
