For my physics class I have to give a 20 minute project on any application of physics. I chose scuba of course. lol! I'm having a hard time finding any info on the inner mechanics like valve movements and stuff. All the physics related stuff is on gas movements or boiency priciples. If anyone knows of a good site or cool model I could make please post it here. I've only got 2 weeks left so I'm totally freaking right now!
~Thanks a Ton!~

Why can't it be on buoyancy or gas physics? Its easy to display, easy to talk about, and easy for audience to understand...Isn't this the kind of thing that lends itself to projects?

If you get too complex in 20 min, you might lose your audience.

Try this...

Go to yahoo.com

type in "scuba regulator physics" and click the search button

Go to any of the links...many of them look along the lines you seem to be thinking...

Good luck

Scuba diving is all about Boyle's law and Archimedes principle.

There is a recent thread about finding a 5000 lb anchor on the bottom and bringing it to the surface. I'm thinking an aquarium, a small dense object, a tiny lift bag.... ;)

Don't know if you've seen this site How Things Work but it't pretty good and should get you started.

sounds like fun.

Depending on just how you define "physics", you might want to order "SCUBA Regulator Savvy" from www.scubatools.com/regsavvy.html. It's fifty bucks. It's an excellent discussion of how regulators work, geared toward technicians.

Wow all these great replys over night! I love this site! I'm gonna look into all of them. ;)
