My husband and I are really new divers. We've only done about 15 dives and are looking for a new place to dive. We just dove Cozumel and Maui. We were pretty disappointed. Our biggest problem is that we were certafied in Bora Bora where the colors are just like a rainbow and the marine life was extremely abundant. I can still remember schools of fish just circling my head as well as "kissing" my skin, therefor our expectations are pretty high. We would like to take a trip to the Caribbean in the next couple of weeks...and we want to do it first class. We want to stay in an amazing resort...perhaps where the stars would go. I have looked at some resorts in Anguilla...but I'm not sure how the diving is. If anybody can suggest a first class resort anywhere in the Caribbean where the diving is amazing that would be great.

Where the stars would go...

If you mean where you would likely see them, St Barts. Can't comment on the diving though.

Caymans are very good, and there are some good resorts. Belize has some great diving - we've been to www.turneffelodge.com - very remote - very 1st class, and Tommy Lee Jones is a regular, and since its miles from any lights, you can see all the stars you'll ever need to if you look up at night...

BTW - if you are talking "Caribbean Luxury Resort" in general - then I take back what I said about Turneffe. This is a luxury DIVE resort. If you aren't there solely for the diving, there are other places to go...

BTW - where are my manners? Welcome aboard - have fun - dive alot (won't always be Bora Bora) but being wet is better than being dry...

What else do you like? Have you looked at Anse Chastenet on St Lucia? My wife & I really enjoyed it there. Not a dive resort at all, but good diving to be had. Island is more interesting than most - very volcanic, lots of topography - rainforest, etc. Very poor island however, bad roads, etc, but the resort is top notch.

And welcome to SB. :wavey: Good place to learn, compare, argue. :krach: Put us in your Favorites and check in often.

Where the stars go? Yep, St.Barths has lots of rich folks & stars. Fly to St.Marteen then take a ferry or private boat over, or - fly there and land on the shortest commerical runway in the world, if you have the nerve. How's your French? Oh, the diving is marginal.

How about Nevis? I remember walking around town and seeing a fellow I recognized, but couldn't place him in his shorts & T-shirt? From the Windjammer I was on? From back home somewhere? From my travels? Really bothered me, until I got home and saw the movie "The Patriot." MEL!! :cool1: And where else can you sit in a thermal hot spring 100 feet down on a reef? Done that! There is a Four Seasons there, or this one: http://www.montpeliernevis.com

However, if you were disappointed in Cozumel, either you had the wrong guide, or you're just jaded from Bora Bora? You may have to go back there to get what you're seeking...?
