Hi Everyone, I am new to scuba diving -- I've learned so much from all of you on ScubaBaord and am happy to be joining this community. I am a former corporate type who decided to exit the corporate life after visiting Saba in the Caribbean. Learning to dive and being on island time felt like a much better combination than my all work and no play lifestyle!

I am intrigued by the underwater world -- I feel like I'm discovering a whole new territory -- and how cool is it to feel like you're flying while awake? I have my Advanced Open Water and Nitrox certifications, although I've only experienced diving in Saba so far. Someday, I'd like to go to Micronesia and the Galapagos.

I love hearing about where others have gone, what they liked and why they got into diving. I've learned a lot of life-lessons in diving -- the most profound is that my buoyancy is an immediate indicator about how I'm feeling. As a new diver, I am still learning and perfecting my skills -- and how comfortable I feel in the moment tends to show in how easily I maintain neutral buoyancy. You really get to see the power of your mind in how you control your body underwater.

What life lessons have you learned? Why do you dive? I'd love to hear your stories.

Warmly,
Heather

Welcome to the board. Looks like you have been bitten by the scuba bug.

Welcome! Yes, Scubaboard is great! I got so many questions answered here as I was learning to dive. In the beginning the sheer amount of information here can be overwhelming. But by asking good questions you can also narrow down the overwhelming number of options there are out there for equipment. Also there is so much to learn here just about safe diving in general and the community is self-regulating so dangerous attitudes aren't tolerated much here.

Dive safely!

Welcome to the board!
