I regularly get Dive Training, Alert Diver (DAN), Sport Diver and SCUBA Diving (mainly for the ads). I used to get Fathoms and Undercurrents (and still would if not for the cost).

many dive shops provide "Dive Training" for free....and every so often someone posts a link for a free year of ScubaDiving.

There is more info here than on any mag, and it's constantly being updated. You can't beat the price either! :D The best part? You can be certain that the average opinion has not been bought or paid for. Really.

There are some really cool cyber mags out there as well: www.xray-mag.com as well as www.underwaterjournal.com. are two of my favorites! :D

I dont PAY for any particular mags. Get plenty free from various memberships. The only ones I would PAY for would be Advanced Diver Magazine, and maybe Wreck Diving Magazine. For rec divers, Sport Diver and Scuba Diving seem to be the better ones. But they arent that informative, more travel based.

I get Sport Diver, Scuba Diving, Undercurrent, Alert Diver, and Wreck Diving. Wreck Diving is my favorite, but I usually find something good in the others every month. I like the pictures and the ads in Sport Diver and Scuba Diving

lisajade beat me to this question would “Dive Training” be considered the best with technical info for the new diver? I am not as interested in reading articles about dives in far off places I wont see until I retire, but could equipment reviews, skill articles would be nice, something to increase my diving literacy if you will.

I always find something of note in Sport Diver and Scuba Diving, but Dive Training seems to have the best information throughout (and seems like less of a travel based mag) The best part is that I pick it up free at my LDS!

Scuba Diving can be had VERY cheaply...check E-bay, I think I'm getting two years for $10.99 right now...

I also pick up DIVER which is a Canadian mag at my local Borders. There's usually some good reading in that.

yes, I find this forum has made reading the newstand stuff a thing of the past.

I like the fact that I get my news from "divers I know". This allows you to have a context, which I just don't have with a publication.

There is a British mag I like, can't remember the name. Whenever I stumble upon it, I think "this is so good!"

The English always seem to just say it like it is.

Catherine, is it DIVER? I used to be able to get it at Borders, but they stopped carrying it some time back. I do enjoy it when I can find it and have considered flying to London to do some of the great trips out of there!

Agree with you and NetDoc... this is a great place to get information.
