Hello,
A good friend of mine is getting married, and so I want to take him and some buddies for a bachelor/scuba trip to Florida. I am a transplanted Brit and so need recommendations for a good dive operation in the Fort Lauderdale area where we could get 4 days decent diving done, and have a couple of days off to tear it up
I am a DM and have extensive experience but the others in the party just have OW. ONe of our number wants to get his OW and so is planning to head down a couple of days before we all get there. It would be great to do some of the artificial reef wrecks, as I know the soon to be groom would like that.
Any thoughts or recommendations appreciated.
Cheers

You're going to have fun no matter what you do.

An option that comes to mind is to dive the Keys - it's the best diving by far and the "attitude" is right for bachelor parties. For atmosphere, that's where I'd go. If you need more info just post and we'll let you have it.

As far as FLL goes, we normally do "a wreck and a reef" on-board at about 8 AM and then another "wreck and a reef" boarding at 1:30 PM or so. The skippers generally make it up as they go, so you're smart to strike up a "relationship" with one operator.

Just about all the operators here are in the "great" class except one, I'd stay away from Scuba Tyme (a search will bring up why). So, the ideal way to go about choosing a dive operator is by first picking where you want to stay... no need to drive to dive!

Pier 66 area has the best options for rooms and it's just off ground-zero for all the coastal night life... from the Hyatt down to your basic tourist-on-a-budget dive. Let us know your budget and we'll fix you up.

The dive operators closest are American Dream II and one other down by the Florida Tap Room (c'mon conchers... what's their name? On A1A heading south just past Las Olas).

Here's American Dream II:

Night life is concentrated along A1A just north of Pier 66, and there are a number of "gentlemen's clubs" up on US-1 just northwest. The more info you provide about what kind of accomodations you are looking for the better we can help you out.

No matter what, you'll have a blast here!
